If you are a new Akismet customer you will want to activate the service immediately. We have provided a quick “how to” activation guide below for you to activate Akismet online.
how to activate- Askimet online
what you need:
- internet access
- have an official Askimet account
- have API Key
- personal information
what to do to activate Askimet if you do not have an API Key:
- visit: www.akismet.com
- click on the blue “SAY GOODBYE TO COMMENT SPAM” button
- choose which plan and pricing you want by clicking on the blue “SIGN UP” button
- choose to sign up using your current WordPress account or creating a new separate account
what to do for WordPress account:
- type in your email address or WP.com username in the space provided
- type in your password in the space provided
- click on the blue “Sign In” button
- following the prompts to receive your API Key
what to do to without a WordPress account:
- type in your email address in the space provided
- create and type in a username in the space provided for a separate account or
- create and type in a password in the space provided
- click on the blue “Sign up” button
- find the section titled “Personal blog access”
- drag the price bar to the price you prefer, even $0 is available
- provide your contact information and/or payment information
- move forward and receive your new API key
how to activate your new Akismet key:
- login to your WordPress website
- go to your plugin sections and click on Akismet configuration
- type in your new API key and update it
- your Akismet key is now activated
