Nikon was established in 1917. It was created when  3 of Japan’s leading optical manufacturers merged to form Nippon Kogaku K.K. It was in 1946 when the Nikon brand name was adopted for small-sized cameras. In 1953 Nikon Optical Co., Inc. (now Nippon Kogaku (U.S.A.) Inc.) was established in the United States and finally in
1988 the corporate name was changed to Nikon Corporation. At that time the Nikon logotype and logo design format were created. NOTE: please visit the site directly to verify the details and obtain more information.
